Brewers Cup Qualifying Competition
For the 2018 season of the United States Brewers Cup there will be two Qualifying Competitions leading up to the national championship. In order to move on to USBrC, Brewers must first qualify at the U.S. CoffeeChamps in Reno, NV or New Orleans, LA.
Each Qualifying Competition will host 36 competitors, for a total of 72 spots. 28 spots are reserved for competitors that pre-qualified during the Preliminaries. The remaining 44 spots are available for Open Registration.

SCA/BGA/RG/CTG members get 2 free attendee passes for their coaches/helpers
Registrations are non-refundable/non-transferable. The name on the registration is the competitor, this cannot be changed or substituted. Companies holding In-House Competitions will need to have their competitor’s name ready prior to the start of registration.
The competition will sell out very quickly! Be sure to have everything you need to register ready prior to registration opening.
At the U.S. CoffeeChamps Brewers Cup Qualifying Competitions, competitors will take part in 3 services: Open Service, Compulsory Service, and Audience Service.
During Open Service, competitors will have 10 minutes to manually brew 3 separate extractions of their coffee for 3 sensory judges: 2 scoring and 1 non-scoring judge-in-training or guest judge. Competitors may use their own water and grinder, however only the sponsor grinder is permitted on stage.
In Compulsory Service, competitors will brew 3 separate extractions of the secret compulsory coffee. Compulsory Service is on a closed stage, no coaches or helpers are allowed. Competitors will have 45 continuous minutes to practice, prepare, and serve. Competitors must use the provided sponsor grinder, hot water tower, and water which will be in a fixed location on the tables.
For Audience Service, competitors will serve CoffeeChamps attendees their Open Service coffee. This is a fun, easygoing way to interact with the audience. Competitors can have coaches or helpers assist them with Audience Service, if they would like, and they may use their own water and grinders. Sponsor water, grinders, hot water towers, and sample cups will be provided. Competitors must bring 4kg of their Open Service coffee to use for Audience Service & Open Service; and they must use their Open Service Coffee for Audience Service, no substitutions are permitted. Audience Service is not scored but is required.
Online Learning Sessions:
The Online Learning Sessions are for competitors and judges. The U.S. Competitions Working Group will go over the Rules & Regulations, highlighting any Rules changes, and judging protocols. Competitors must take one of the Brewers Cup Competitor sessions as it acts as the the competitor meeting. Judges must take the Brewers Cup Judge session.
Online Learning Sessions are mandatory.
These sessions will be recorded; those who cannot attend the live session(s) may watch the recordings. However, attendance at a live session is highly recommended, so everyone has the opportunity to ask questions about the Rules & judging protocols.
Both sessions are open to everyone. Competitors, coaches, co-workers, business owners, judges, and volunteers are welcome to attend both sessions.
